An emergency kit is essential for your vehicle, no matter what time of year it is. Summer is the time for hitting the road, so you could be miles away from home if something goes wrong. Make sure you prepare for anything with a summer safety kit for your vehicle.
Visibility Gear
Always keep gear that will make you visible in your vehicle. This could be reflective hazard triangles, flares, or an LED flameless flare. These newer flares will last longer than the traditional ones you’re used to seeing.
Food and Drinks
Water is always good to have in your vehicle, and if you are headed on a road trip, you’ll want to have some food too. Pack up snacks that will last for a while, such as granola bars, nuts, dried meat, and dehydrated fruit. Make sure to stay away from food that will melt or deteriorate in the heat. In addition to water, Gatorade is good to keep on hand because it has electrolytes that can keep you hydrated if you get stuck in the heat.
Tools and Emergency Gear
Your summer emergency kit should include jumper cables, items to fix a flat tire such as a lug wrench and jack, sealant, and a tire gauge. A small tool kit might come in handy, along with a flashlight, cellphone charger, and a first aid kit.
It’s always better to be over-prepared when you hit the road. These items will fit in a plastic bin and will keep you ready for anything.
